Description
The Chinese toon tree (Toona sinensis) is a deciduous tree native to eastern and southeastern Asia.
It is a hardy and fast-growing tree that is easy to propagate and maintain. It has a broad canopy with large, pinnate leaves that are typically dark red when they are young, then turn bright green when fully mature. The young leaves and shoots are commonly used as a vegetable(Xiang Chun Ya) in Chinese cuisines, like stir-fried or used in soups, etc.
The Chinese toon tree can grow up to 20 meters tall but is recommended to be pruned to keep it at a manageable size（1m~1.5m）, which enables people to harvest its soft and fresh shoots easily.
It is generally tolerant of cold weather as low as -25°C (-13°F) during winter.
4+ years old, tree stem is approx. 35-40 cm tall.
